TEBAMI FOR ANDROID

Calculation accuracy, units and rounding

A useful answer depends on the inputs, units, formula and precision. Tebami shows calculation details so you can check those choices against your project.

Units are part of the calculation

Length, area and volume are different quantities. A conversion from metres to feet uses a length factor; square and cubic units use the corresponding squared and cubed factors. US and Imperial liquid units are distinguished. A pound of mass is different from a pound-force.

Tebami uses the exact international relationship 1 in = 25.4 mm, or 1 ft = 0.3048 m. See NIST’s explanation of length units. The conversion can be exact even when the original measurement is approximate.

Fractions and display precision

The app uses rational arithmetic for entered decimal/fraction values and operations that support it, including whole-pack purchase calculations. Geometry involving π, trigonometry and material-density calculations also uses floating-point arithmetic. Not every displayed result is exact.

Fractional outputs marked ≈ are rounded to the selected fraction precision. Halfway fractional values round away from zero. Decimal displays have calculator-specific precision, so a rounded value should not replace the full input in a chain of calculations. Fraction ↔ Decimal displays up to ten decimal places.

Whole purchase quantities round up where the calculator calls for complete packs, sheets or pieces. A geometric measurement has a different rounding purpose from a purchasing quantity.

Read the assumptions

Open “How this was calculated” to see the method and relevant assumptions. Material weight uses nominal density. Flooring estimates do not lay out every board. Soil and gravel volumes do not infer compaction. Layout and stair geometry do not establish compliance with building regulations.

More digits do not improve the accuracy of a rough input. Check critical dimensions, tolerances, fit and supplier specifications before cutting, ordering or relying on a result for safety.

How calculations are checked

Tebami’s development checks include automated tests for calculation examples, input parsing, unit handling and regression cases. These checks help identify errors but cannot establish that every input, device or real-world situation has been covered. They are not independent certification.

Worked examples on this site are checked against the corresponding app methods. Start with fractions, feet and inches, flooring or material weight.

Report a result that looks wrong

Send the calculator name, exact inputs, unit selections, result received and expected result to Support. Include how you obtained the expected result, and the app version if available. Remove unrelated personal details from screenshots.
